Brief GNC History
GNC had its origins in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when David Shakarian opened a health food called Lackzoom. He sold healthy sandwiches, yogurt and other healthy foods. In the 1960's the name was changed to General Nutrition Centers and it now is the largest nationwide retailer of health and nutrition related supplements. You can probably find them in many malls nationwide. They also support charitable causes including the March of Dimes and United Way of Allegheny County.

I found the site easy to navigate with comprehensive detail about each product including description, product info, and label info. On the left navigation next to each product there is something called "health notes" which describes the proposed benefits of the supplement. Under their main top navigation they also have the best sellers section so you can have an idea of what other people are buying.
